From a Different Angle is a book about lived experience and the lessons hidden inside it. Donovan Tezeno-Parish has spent his career learning a discipline that started long before the job: how to see a situation, and the people in it, from more than one angle, and how to find the lesson in rooms that could have broken him.
From a childhood on the Louisiana coast to the hardest year of his professional life, he shows how the situations most people write off, or walk away from, are often the ones with the most to teach, and how to stay long enough to find it.
Along the way he offers a practical method any leader can use: read what is actually in front of you, test whether the stated problem is the real one, and bring the response the moment needs rather than the one you default to.
Written for people leaders, executives, HR professionals, and anyone who aspires to lead people, this is a book about becoming the leader you needed and never had.

Donovan Tezeno-Parish is a human resources executive whose work is built on a simple conviction: the best leadership starts with the discipline of seeing a situation from more than one angle. Raised on the Louisiana coast, he learned early, watching his family weather hurricanes and rebuild with quiet resilience, what it costs when no one shows up for the people in front of them. That lesson has shaped every role he has held since.
He earned his master’s degree in human resources while navigating a season he did not yet know would shape his leadership. Across his career he has added several HR certifications, including the SPHR, SHRM-SCP, GPHR, and PHRca, developing a practical philosophy of leadership grounded in lived experience rather than theory alone. From a Different Angle is his first book, written for anyone who has ever had to lead, or be led, through a hard room.
He continues to write and speak about the work of leading people.
